This term, the Extreme Science Van visited Prep and we found out about different types of scientists and we were able to help with lots of very exciting experiments.
We then went camping in our Prep unit, complete with tents, fireplace, trees and Australian animals. We had to make a shop for the camperst to buy food to cook on their campfires. We even had prices on all the items and used money to buy our groceries.
As a class, we then went on a bushwalk at Enoggera Creek, put up real tents at Prep (in which we rested in the afternoon), ate a sausage sizzle for lunch, had marshmallows around our outside campfire and sang songs around the "fire". It was a GREAT day!
We then moved on to talking about occupations. Some parents came to Prep to talk about their jobs. Mitchell's dad brought an ambulance to school and told us all about being a paramedic. We watched Cooper's dad use his excavator and tell us about his job as a landscaper. We made our own police station (including a jail), a hairdressing salon, a restaurant and a doctor's surgery!
